Let me start by saying that I am a Leather Craftsman and that I wear boots exclusively. I probably wear boots 350 days a year and have been for more than a decade. I have been eyeing Sutro's for a while now but had not purchased a pair before (for no concrete reason). Then, a month ago, I won a pair of Alders in honey color.
My first issue with them is that they have ruined me for other boots. The Alder are now by far my favorite pair and my new go-to boots. They are acceptably comfortable out of the box and once broken in, it feels like your are wearing deerskin gloves on your feet. The cushioning is excellent and the Vibram sole has a nice grip like advertised. But the real star of the boots is the cut/notch at the back that adds both style and comfort .
I also loved the turned in seams which means no visible stitches on the cap toe and heel part; which means less thread fraying when you wear them roughly like I do.
I, my whole family, my friend and anyone who will listen to be honest, already know that my next two pair of boots will be the Alden in Grey and then the Alden in Black.
